Our tds meter is reading 0010. what is acceptable? I was told nothing but 000 . Then someone else said up tp 0010 was ok

 

I think most people say try to stay below 2 -4 tds for good saltwater quality. But, I am sure someone with more experience will know for sure. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif

 

if your TDS meter is accurate I usually try and stay below 5 before I start changing filters....they aren't very expensive relative to the hobby and you don't have to change them often. I buy DI resin from a culligans in town for cheap so that's ussually the first thing I change when I start seeing a tds above 1. I just got about 5 lbs of resin from them for under 20 dollars a while ago.....they always have huge containers of it sittin around. They do give you weird looks when you ask to buy mixed bed DI from them though.

 

I would check your flow and Water temp. RO/DI systems work best at at least 60psi and temp I think needs to be at least 65 degrees I believe. I think up to 10ppm would be ok when just adding for evaporation. When adding Salt to R/O I would keep it below 5ppm..I think water is considered R/O when it is between 0 to 50ppm hardness. I read this someplace a long time ago so I am just working of the top of my brain. I use to keep Discus and TDS was very important along with other things.
