Is 800 gph too much for a 29 biocube?

I believe that it depends. Depends on your coral types and overall tank, no dead spots
Also I have read that 10-20x the gallons is a good amount of flow for tank, so 30x20 is 600gph max recommend.

I am not a pro but that is what I have been reading.

I have 850 gph in my 20 gallon. You circulation flow in the tank can be in the 40+ times for sps and such. My sps coral loves it.

As long as everything seems happy and you're not blowing flesh off any of the corals turn up the flow!!!

    Will my clowns be ok?

I have a pair of clowns with my 20 gallon. They don't seem even notice let alone mind the 850 gph movement in the tank. (Mind you it is circulation flow and not powerhead flow, so it moves a large band of water and not a small jet. So, that helps a bit. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif
