Ahahaha I used an old 5mp Canon A610 in manual mode and don't remember the settings i used. I just tinkered with them until things looked cool.

    Unbelievable pics!
I have a Powershot and I'll give your settings a try.
Good stuff from a free proggie, PhotoMe, that lists the exif data (for anyone wondering) so you can see the camera's settings/duplicate a shot.

Thats a cool program, i could have looked if would have know you really wanted the settings.

The i found the hardest thing is getting focus, especially for the stuff towards the front of the tank. Using a tripod and moving a ways back helps not to focus on the glass.

I have this firmware add-on, you can do a lot of amazing things with these little power shots.

    Thanks for the info!
I never thought about hacking firmware in a camera.  If it can do as it says I'll be amazed - raw would be nice w/Photoshop.
BTW - I have a Powershot A620 so it's virtually identical to yours aside from the megapixels...and I've never gotten shots like the ones you posted!

It does allow me to shoot in raw - and after a conversion to DNG can open in CS4!
Hmm....now I need to learn about working with raw images.
    Thanks again!
    Any more pics?

-Eric Doesn't CS4 work directly with "raw"?

I have a ton of old pic in my gallery if you want to check them out.

There are a few nice ones in there, others not so much.  A lot of them were taken with my underwater housing as well.

Yes - but it doesn't like the default format created with the camera.  I had to download a free proggie to convert to the universal DNG format.
This camera was not released as being able to output in raw format and CDDK software is forcing it to.

Those were all with the Powershot? (GIRS stripped the exif)
Very nice!  Looks I need to get busy as I was going to replace my camera but apparently it has capabilities!

Yup, those were all with the A610. If you can figure out how to use bracketing with CHDK it would really help. That way you can just take a bunch of pics in continuous mode and pic the ones you like and delete the rest.
Another good tip is to use the underwater white balance setting. It was perfect for my XM 20k's and seems to work pretty well with my 14k Radium as well.

    Got a tripod?
