So I sold a guy a guitar last week. I mentioned I was into fish tanks. I showed him another guitar (not a great guitar) and he didn't pull the trigger on it. Now he wants to trade me for this stuff. From the pic I'm not really sure it'd be wirth the time/effort to do the trade. The guitar has been in storage for quite some time, so this could be fun.

    What think you, Internet friends?

How much is the guitar worth?

    $75-$100. Needs some repair.

Then it's pretty much a straight trade

+1 on the trade. Probably easier to get your money out of the tank set up than a broken guitar.

If you want the tank as a project then go for it, otherwise I would just go for the cash to be used for something in your main tank.

Well, I don't really need a project right now, but then again, I'm not using the guitar nor am I going to repair it. Like I said...hmmm.

it could be a really cool qt tank /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif or a clown tank with a big anemone in the middle with 3 par 38 led lights

Meh, I'd pass.....the tank looks pretty old. I bet the silicone might need to be re-done. All the equipment is old FW stuff, the only thing I see worth anything is the tank. The stand is ugly imo, and I'm not a fan of the "wood" trim around the tank, but that's a personal preference. Is the glass chipped in some places at the seams? Unless you have some spare time and the wood accenting appeals to you, I'd keep your guitar.

Couldn't have said it better. What kind of guitar do you have and whats wrong with it?

would make a cool freshwater planted tank... I agree the stand is ugly...and it looks like everything is from the 80's.

Looks like a 10 hex as the under gravel only has on lift tube. The stand is press particle board so want to check that out. Looks like a old aqua clear over the back which will be hard to find parts for as well as no light. Old hexs are known for needing resealed. Your call but if I were to buy it from him I would say max of $20. I could sell you a brand new hex with same stand light and hood for like $61 I think.

Yeah deff. looks like the silicone needs to be redone, but hey if you have no use for the guitar i'm sure you could eventually find a use for this tank.

I certainly wouldn't pu the tank in my house lkooking like it does now. There would be some serious customizing done. I like the idea of a clown tank. As for the guitar, it's one of the many I have aroud and it has been in storage for a while. I won't miss it at all. It's be nice to clear it out and have a new tank to fool with. I wouldn't use any of the equipment as I have my own stuff that I could use.

At any rate, I'm still on the fence.

Just use it as a QT tank. You obviously need one.

"Obviously" is putting it a little strong, since obviously not everyone uses a QT tank.

OK fine I guess if you want me to sugar coat it.

My suggestion for you my friend would be to use it as a QT tank! It is your call in the end, but many people utilize a QT tank to acclimate their fish and corals.
