PM`s not working?

What kind of problems are people having with sending and receiving PM's? I haven't been able to get them to go out tonight. I saw something about clearing cookies, but I don't want to do that; I have a lot of info stored in some of those cookies.
What happened?

 

There was a site upgrade done and when your local browser caches some of the old content, it can break things. You really should clear your cache. Many of the newer browsers allow you to clear just the cached web pages and not the cookies. Also, Firefox allows you to clear the cache specific to a particular domain so you could just clear our the GIRS cache and leave the rest.

While this can be seen as detrimental to some, it's actually a good thing that our Webmaster (JB) is keeping the site current with the latest code that has new functionality and bug fixes. Thank you JB!

Clearing the cache still didn't allow me to send PM's.

 

Deleted the cookies too. Still no pm's. I could send them Friday evening just fine.

 

There haven't been any changes to the site since Thursday so if you were able to send them last night, it's not the site. When you say you can't send PM's what exactly do you mean?

 

My mistake. I just looked at the last message I successfully sent. It was on Thursday night.

When I mean I can't send a message, I mean that I send it and it isn't in my list of sent messages. My messages are all out of order.Is it possible that they're getting sent and are lost in there somewhere?

 

By the way, I've tried with Windows 7 and Macintosh Safari.

 

I am having the same problem.  I hit reply and my message disappears but does not show as being sent.  Also unable to receive PMs.

 

I have discovered that I can send PM's to some folks, but I can't send to Marionreefer. Can anyone else do that?

 

I'm experiencing the same.  I have been receiving and sending PM to a few people that work but one that doesn't work for me is mthomp.

 

When you say you "cant send" to specific users what exactly do you mean?

 

I don't have time to investigate this further right now, but it appears that the system may be working as designed.

Each user has the ability to control who can send them PM's via their profile settings (It's set to "Everyone" by default). I'm guessing that these users have theirs set to "Friends Only", so you may need to send them a friend request and have them accept you as a friend before you'll be able to PM them.

It's possible that this functionality was previously broken and fixed in the latest update which would explain why all of the sudden you can't send to certain people.

I checked this, and indeed my pms were sent to friends only. So perhaps while messing with my settings sometime ago i did change it to friends only, and JBs update fixed made it so it actually worked lol. Anyway I should be able to get PMs from anyone now.

 

Is JustJBtestingstuff set to just friends? I couldn't reply to you on that message.

 

Are the pm's identified as journals?

 

are PMs working again? I have not got any in a few days which is not the norm.
